I worked at University of Texas at Austin part-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

UT Austin has all the resources a student could want; great researchers, great facilities, great environment. There is also a lot to do at the university and in Austin. At the math department, the staff was very efficient and helpful. The workload can be large for a math TA when teaching calculus. This last is not as bad as it seems, though; one learns to teach.

Cons

Very few cons. I do not remember anything that bothered me to much. As mentioned above, sometimes the workload can seem large. specially at the beginning.

I worked at University of Texas at Austin full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I did feel like I was working for an important cause. The benefits were pretty good. It was fun working for the home of the Texas Longhorns.

    Cons

The salary I was paid was too low, and me and my coworkers were often treated like children. I understand this was unique to our department , however. Administrative staff in particular were not valued, but seen as interchangeable and expendable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees like grown ups, and value all employees' contributions.

    Pros

The woman running the book store was great. The location and the atmosphere are great. The work is very easy with lots of free time.

    Cons

The pay is just above minimum and you are only contracted until students come in for work study.
