I have been working at University of Toronto as a contractor (less than an year)

Pros

Good union. Good benefits. Good people. Supportive people all around

Cons

Work load is a little too extreme. It is just hard to keep up with all the grading and feel like you are giving the students a fair shape

    Pros

    Great benefits, good hours, great experience shaping younger minds, beautiful and diverse city, .

    Cons

    May be required to sacrifice vacation time if marking over the Christmas holidays. Students can be very lazy in terms of expecting to be spoon-fed answers on assignments, and on how to study for tests.

    Keep lines of communication open with Teaching Assistants, and make expectations clear.
