Current Employee – been working at University of Toronto full-time for more than 10 years

Pros – Smart people, great benefits, vacation, flex-time, interesting work. The software projects have real world applications and you can see their benefits.

Cons – Depends a lot on your supervisor if you get opportunities to perform and show what you can do. Significant bureaucracy - things take forever to get agreement and decisions to be made. Resources can be scarce and technology can be slow to change.

Advice to Senior Management – Delegate! Trust in your employee's abilities and give them some credit. They will rise to your expectations.
