I have been working at University of Washington full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

Good insurance and benefits, friendly community, excellent administrative and facility support, beautiful campus in a beautiful city.

Cons

It rains and rains and rains in Seattle. If you do not mind the rain and the raising living cost, it will be a perfect place to live and raise a family.

I have been working at University of Washington full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good work-life balance, smart people, great environment. While there is a bit of the bureaucratic overhead that one would expect from any large organization, things are generally well run and most of the departments can do a lot of things independently. The university is very open to adopting new technology and there are some really interesting projects happening across departments.

    Cons

Some offices are a bit under-staffed and the pay can be lower than at private companies

I worked at University of Washington part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Excellent benefits, even at a part-time status. Very supportive in furthering education. Completed Masters degree with minimal loans due benefit of 6 free credits per quarter. Flexible work schedule.

    Cons

Administration disconnected with employees. Large organization. Very little positive reinforcement, tends to function on assume you are doing well unless told otherwise.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Caution with favoritism, encourage more positive feedback.
