I worked at University of Washington full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Really depends on your department. Overall it is challenging to overcome the bureaucracy and feel like you can really get things done. Quality of life is great. Out the door at 5 on the dot. Great benefits=golden handcuffs.

Cons

Very siloed environment. Initiative is not encouraged or rewarded. Many people have stayed too long, don't want to lose their benefits and don't have much drive.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Open yourselves up to change. Utilize performance reviews to acknowledge good performance and work to improve sub-par work. Encourage employees to develop within their roles.

I have been working at University of Washington full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Seattle is great, the university is vibrant and... well... Seattle is great.

    Cons

Large university means a LOT of students, a lot of bureaucracy and a lot of distractions. Football is huge here, so be prepared for a wash of scholl colors.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Give me a tenured position.

I have been working at University of Washington full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Everybody knows the pros and cons of a postdoc regardless of University

    Pros:

    Flexibility
    Benefits (depending of University)
    Independence

    Cons

NIH salary regardless of state (that means you get same salary not taking into account cost of living of city)
NIH maximum amount of years in post-doc is 5-6 years. After this you are on your own.
