I worked at Uno Restaurants part-time (more than an year)

Pros

They pretty much work around your schedule in accordance to school, travel, another job, etc. They cross-train, so moving up is relatively easy.

Cons

Occasionally have unrealistic expectations of their servers. Pay varies depending on shift, restaurant location, etc. Look the other way when guests take advantage of servers.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't be so forgiving of customers who take advantage of the company. That's not the type of people you want coming back.

    I worked at Uno Restaurants full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Uno's corporate has some really good ideas in terms of up and coming menu changes(gluten free menu in particular). They also do very well at testing employees to keep them educated about the products they are selling and about service standards in general. I did have some great Managers that would step up and help where they could even to the point of cooking doing expo. themselves.

    Cons

    One things got busy it was every man for himself(most of the time), it was unheard of to look out for each other, attitude from kitchen staff was a regular occurance(even when it was their mistake that need fixing). Cut employees too soon with little help aiding the servers left on the floor(salad and dessert person cut too soon and servers had to prepare this station themselves while trying to serve as well-usually with no prep done). Not much enforcement or checking people out, to ensure they had done prep. and stocking for the next person in the kitchen, or servers still working between lunch and dinner rushes. Also had problems with getting discounts put on checks for customers with coupons, military discounts etc. Literally had to chase the one manager on duty around on a regular basis and continue;ly remind them what had to be done for what table. Little trust to the regular employees for discount power(really we had to attach the coupon anyhow?)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    I would advise having Server supervisors that could clue you into what is going on in the restaurant when you are not in that area, also to help with quality control and check adjustments. Raise your standard of food quality and time management which I believe will take you far with the customer base and raising standards in the kitchen as well. Too often food would go out burn, dry and unappealing.

    Super busy, great people to work with, and aewesome management

    Cons

    Super busy, long hours, and lots of dishes.
