Pros

You get the opportunity to work on a plethera of different engineering projects, as opposed to being stuck just doing one element of a plan.

Cons

Low paying firm that lures employees by promising 'all the overtime you can work' and considers the overtime a 'gift' from Urban. Unless you are at the Associate level you will be overworked and underpaid.

Advice to Management

Bring salaries to a point that matches engineering companies in the area. Appreciate the engineers you have in an effort to reduce 'turnover'. Urban has lost way too many good engineers due to keeping all profits at the Associate level and above. Reward the guys that do the grunt work to make the money.

    Pros

Those that work hard and produce move up and do well here. Opportunities are for you to take and not be given as a hand out. No nonsense corporate structure.

    Cons

Nothing worth noting. If work was fun or easy you shouldn't be paid for it.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work, but keep an eye on the good staff and make sure they are retained.

  2. Intense work environment does not match the compensation given to employees.

    Pros

If you are a white male looking to move up the corporate ladder then this is the company for you. If not then accept your position and know you will never advance. Just take a look at gender and complexion of upper management on their website and you will know what I am talking about.

    Cons

Mostly the pay. Also, the environment can be difficult and harassing at times. Work-life balance will have to be frequently abandoned due to tight deadlines. Benefits are a bit below other similar companies in the area and software is very outdated.

    Advice to Management

You would not have to "keep looking for the best engineers in the area" if you could retain the excellent ones that keep leaving for better pay.
