Great job

Pros

Great atmosphere and you get to work with some really creative, artistic, friendly people. Your talents are recognized and there is alot of opportunity to grow within the company.

Cons

They pay is alright. Fairly difficult to promote deopending on store size. Management can seem difficult or unresponsive, sometimes unnaproachable.

Advice to Management

Be more responsive and understanding of employees. Don't play favorites and be willing to invest time into those interested in promoting. Recognize thise that go the extra mile.

I worked at Urban Outfitters full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

40% discount except the quality of their products, from all three brands (Free People, Urban Outfitters, and Anthropologie) is getting worse every year. So regardless you're wasting your money on clothing that will fall a part. Wow, I really can't find anything else positive about working there.

    Cons

There are so many. From another review- "Angry, disillusioned 30-something year old stuck working in retail still, can ruin your workplace experience," is accurate in the Northeast. It goes like this: Regional managers and District Managers are over loaded without the resources they need to run hudrededs of locations. Store managers are constantly and uneffiectively micro-managed, not provided with enough payroll to accomplish anything besides tidy the massive amount of inventory in stores. MISCOMMUNICATION on a daily basis on all levels of the company. Home office is a joke and doesn't support stores with simple facility and security issues, yet the burden inevitably lies on store management. PAYROLL was cut more and more year after year. This is a perfect example of a company growing too fast and being mismanaged in every way possible from the top down. Oh, I could go on. The brand's image, merchandising, training, policies, even in store contests are just a few more of the aspects of this corporation that are seriously flawed and need to be addressed if not overhauled completely. If you work here as a manager expect to eat, sleep, breathe UO for WAY less then the avg. national management salariy and nowhere to advance unless you want to move every year. NOT WORTH IT!

    Advice to Management

No hope here. Old Hispters trying to out cool each other, tripping over their own mistakes and forcing a smile through what must be a painfully embarassing career.
