Pros

Unique work environment, especially for a mall! The store itself feels like a different world with the visuals and scents. Very asthetically pleasing.

Cons

Spending all of your paycheck on merchandise!

I have been working at Urban Outfitters

    Pros

The discounts are great and it is a successful company. It always carrys great merchandise and the atmosphere is better than any other store. Each Anthropologie store is unique and uses a lot of creativity for the display of the store. It revolves around a lifestyle, not just fashion and trends.

    Cons

It is very hard to get a raise and there is a high turnover rate of managers and employees. Many times, bad managers and employees are hired - there needs to be better screening of who they employ.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

People work better when there is encouragement and constructive criticism as opposed to being told what they're doing wrong and never being praised for doing what's right.

    Rewarding, but hard work

I have been working at Urban Outfitters full-time

    Pros

The people you work with define company culture and are mostly artists, musicians, and other creative types. So, for the most part you are surrounded by some really interesting co-workers. Promotions and new opportunities are consistently available at the store-level and UO prides itself on its employees' loyalty and tenure (which is rare in the retail industry). 90% of the time internal candidates are given first consideration for any openings.

    Cons

Low pay, long hours. When payroll is low, the managers have to man the floors and do all job requirements of a sales associate in addition their managerial tasks. Home Office plans and marketing don't always sync with store-level tasks and often the stores are stuck with much more on their plate because Home Office seems unaware of store managements' already intense duties.

    Negative Outlook
