Pros

Amazing travel opportunities, good opportunities to grow and develop with the company.

Cons

Lacking in competitive compensation. Company striving for huge growth in the coming years, but behind the best when it comes to company culture. Somewhat lacking in solid people management, and a feeling of disconnect between Senior Management and their employees. Again, it seems they are looking to address these.

A once great company, ruined by poor leadership, poor work life balance, and below market compensation

I have been working at Urban Science full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Nice facilities, company invests in technology, some great co-workers. Reasonable benefits, although increasingly hard to take time off.

    Cons

Very poor work life balance - long hours with little to no recognition. This company runs *very lean*, to the point of it being detrimental to employee health.

Compensation is below market, especially considering the level of stress. Office politics are extremely unpleasant and vicious. There is open disdain for teams/departments and various individuals, justified or not. Backstabbing is common practice.

Company is on a path to failure with decreased profitability. Incredibly low employee morale compounds the troubles.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have completely lost all regard for the most important asset of any business - the employees who deliver. Urban Science got to where it is with a culture of openness and team work, allowing idea generation and innovation. This has disappeared.

Soon enough, especially with the job market in Detroit looking positive, people will look elsewhere. Nothing could be more costly to the business.

The company has lost focus of what they truly are, a consulting company

I have been working at Urban Science full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Most of the employees are great ppl to work with.
    - The Benefits are pretty good

    Cons

    - Urban Science started as a consulting company that develops software products to aide with the consulting aspect, but now the executives has switched course and believe the company is a software company albiet with outdated processes.

    - A few of their software products are horrible but upper management believes everything is dandy.

    - Pay is below market standards and the annual merit increases are pathetic.

-There isnt much room for growth after employees reach a certain position. A lot of favortism goes on in this office. The phrase 'Who you know and not what you know' really applies. Some positions get filled with an formal internal interview process, while others get filled without one.

    - The company would rather sacrifice employee satisfaction than record yearly revenue growth.

    - Company rewards great work by giving the employee the worthless 'challenge coin', which can be bought on ebay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Dont neglect your greatest asset, the employees.
