I worked at VA Health part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

It was a family-like atmosphere and everybody got along just fine. Management was very understanding of their workers and gave employees enough freedom during the work day.

    Cons

Not really any downside here. I mean, I'd always like to be making more money but the pay wasn't too bad.

I worked at VA Health full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Vast resources once applied to a problem.

    Cons

Solutions to problems come slowly after multiple meetings. Don't look to get things done quickly in this agency.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Good workers get burned out quickly at the VA because there are so many there who are more than happy to pass off work to those who will pick up the slack. As a consequence the people you should want to keep leave while the lazy stay until retirement. Reward those who deserve it!
