I have been working at VCE

Pros

VCE is a joint venture between VMware/Cisco and EMC and was seeded with top talent from those companies. The people here, are in most circumstances, top notch technically. The company functions much like a start-up. That is both good and bad. In general the pros are as follows:

-Opportunity to work on as much tech as you want
-Flexible work environment
-Good compensation and benefits
-Smart folks that can mentor you are around every corner
-Leading edge involvement in converged infrastructure market

Cons

Having grown from seventy odd employees to about 1000 in about a year causes issues. There have been a couple of organizational 'revisions', but to be honest that should be expected. You can't expect everyone to land in the right job when you are hiring that fast. To their credit, the management has allowed people to move into other jobs during these reorganizations, so if you got in to a place you didn't like, more often than not, you have the opportunity to make a change to something more to your liking.

In general, other cons:
-Sometimes feels like a hamster wheel, lots of fires to put out while processes are created to handle 'normal' everyday stuff
-Some areas are understaffed, some overstaffed, again, due to explosive growth. This is working itself out over time though
-Too much! Way too easy to get overcommitment if you have trouble saying no.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

In general, management is doing a good job at positioning the company for long term growth. There are some bumps, but overall, doing well.

    I worked at VCE

    Pros

Work from home most of the time, benefits are fine.

    Cons

Upper management is a group of backstabbing, unethical, secretive bunch of phony elitists!
Management can't decide on the direction of the company.
EMC has too much negative influence on the company. Do it the EMC way or hit the highway is VCE motto!
No promotional opportunities unless you worked at EMC prior to VCE.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire the entire VCE Board and Executive Team and start over or sell the company to Apple where the management team is well run and respected.

I have been working at VCE

    Pros

Benefits package and vacation time. The parents allow training and certifications.

    Cons

There is no growth within the company and the integrity of the management is poor. They lie and deceive employees. There is no open door policy and as long as you serve and stay quiet they are happy. DO NOT work for this company. I was told that from management that I was overpaid for what I do and yet also that I am not the caliber that they are looking for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There needs to be a clean sweep of getting rid of managers.
