I have been working at VFA

Pros

Lot of nice friendly people and upper management seems very likable. Communication could be better, but not bad. Some departments seem to be moving in right direction but not entire company.

Cons

Products could be so much better, but nowhere near enough people to do anything more than minor updates. Very dated user interface ... it's a good thing the user base is not tech savvy.

Working from home mentioned by other reviewers is good for flexibility but has drawbacks. Most floors seem mostly empty most of the time.

Have heard salaries are low, especially for near downtown Boston. Salary freeze not too long ago. Small increases now, but losing people now that economy is picking up.

    I worked at VFA

    Pros

It was small and collegial. The managers were very flexible. The hours were alright, but not entirely ideal. The location was nice.

    Cons

There was no real room for growth. More people left or were let go than were ever promoted. Management seemed to care more about profits.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep hiring young talent, but only if you plan on helping them grow in their career. Try setting up career tracks.

    I worked at VFA

    Pros

Challenging work atmosphere. Never short of work.
    Flexible Timings and WFH options.
    Different Domain of business.
Some really knowledgable people to work with.
Most management staff are highly friendly, approachable, down-to-earth and get along well with other staff.

    Cons

Absolutely zero percent professional growth and career advancement at the non-management level.
Too frequent management changes and the employees find it hard to cope up with each set of new policies brought forth as a change.
Insufficient levels in the organizational structure. The chart has mostly only 4 levels in any area - CEO, SVP, Senior Director, Senior Staff.
Too many directors and VPs. Less resources to work. Constant enormous pressure for some staff.
No recognition or appreciation for senior staff working in the company for even 10 years other than hosting a cake party.
    No annual bonuses.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bring more levels in the organization in the non-management area.
Recognize the skillsets of employees and offer them the right assignments and make them feel really appreciated.
