I have been working at VMware

Pros – I came in via acquisition and am outside of corporate so keep that in mind
Seemingly motivated sales force
Customers like us and give VMW access,
ESX is a no-brainier currently- absolutely dominate at the moment
Acquisitions of some interesting cos like Socialcast.
Lots of inside, outside and channel sales scale
Affable, bright CEO
A reasonably positive corporate culture

Cons – No clearly articulated vision for what they want to become
I can't overstate- CHAOTIC environment over-loaded with very poorly planned and executed process
No one is in charge. No way to get anything done.
Info Tech sucks. Bad, buggy systems, It;s March and I don't have a comp plan.
No discernible product acquisition strategy
Feels poorly run from my perspective
Loose federation of products need integration

Advice to Senior Management – Fix the company before doing any more acquisitions. Bring in professional help from integrators like Accenture or IBM. Can't EMC help??
Don't change the company before having a plan to manage the change!!!
Empower your managers to fix problems by exercising discretion while you right the ship
Getting cheap with your employees doesn't server your shareholders.
Get a strategy
You won't have this monopoly forever. Buy BMC, truly integrate with EMC and you've got something.
