Pros

Nice campus is the only pro. But behind the good looking campus there is a miserable work environment.

Cons

Absolutely no work-life balance. 24/7 job and no appreciation for hard work. People are very secretive in exchanging information and that kills productivity and adds a lot of stress. Very unhealthy work environment.

Managers have no clues what they are doing. No technical and leadership guidance and suggestions. Managers say YES to everything his/her manager says and no thinking at all.

Working team is the scapegoat for management failures and missteps.

The general attitude is "shut up and get back to work or get out.

No employee empowerment, no personal development path.

In order to grow up the ladder, you need to be a friend of the boss, unfortunately the intelligence or hard working behaviors are no success factor.

Broken processes, bad team work, low moral are a way of life at VMware.

Top management are not held accountable, if there is bad news, they scapegoat someone and don't take any responsibility for their own actions.

The culture of fear is killing productivity and innovation.

Talent is leaving and cannot easily be replaced. Company keeps hiring new people who have no clue what they are doing, causing more chaos and confusion. Onboarding the new people is an unsolved mystery at VMware.

Advice to Management

Do something about the directors and managers. Most of them are average or below average and are hurting this company. Let go of those who are managing by fear, intimidating their subordinates and are never accountable for anything.
