I have been working at VMware full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    + Benefits, Benefits, Benefits!!!!
+ Paid on all business that closes in your territory and shared by everyone!
+ Past Respect from Visualization leadership and technical advancements (great on a resume for now still)
+ VMware has lots of money in the bank (BILLIONS) and no debt- even with layoffs and such at least they have stability financially
+ Advancement is there~ they hire and promote quickly (even if this is your 1st job right out of college - You can be a manager in less than 2 years if you work it)

    Cons

    - Out-dated internal systems (hello Excel)
    - Entitlement in the Field (hurts customer also)
    - Lacking Direction/Management/Communication across the board (They claim still 12 year old "start-up"
    - Too many Directors and WAY too top heavy with countless layers of "decision makers"
    - Constant power play for positioning/credit that in the end waste time and money
    - Absolute denial the competition has now in all the many areas and countless v products VMware is betting on for the future

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get it together or be prepared for a slow sinking big former glory ship!
