I have been working at VMware full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

- Great technologies getting developed, most of them being industry firsts
- Transparent and open culture
- Flexible timings
- Good perks

Cons

- New management coming in from services industry and not keeping up with the old values of the company

Advice to ManagementAdvice

- Try to understand the company history, DNA and build the culture along those lines

    Pros

    Competitive Compensation, Positive Customer relationship, Interesting technologies

    Cons

    80%+ of profit is now software support renewals... Sales reps are only paid on new license sales, but Quota is based on past sales. Vmware core products have reached saturation.

    New products are in mature markets or so little value, nobody hits quota.

    Because it's such a tough situation and such high turnover in Sales, good managers will not work at VMware. So you are left with incompetent management and pay well below market due to unreasonable quotas.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Figure out how to retain staff in this transition for VMware. Bad managers blaming sales people for not hitting quota is only going to result in turn over and lower sales
