Pros

Beautiful campus, at least the old part, Good benefits, Job security.

Cons

Politics, chaotic (given company size). vmware is an amalgamate of acquisitions with lots of way to integrate them in. Company is too inert to effectively learn from past mistakes.

Advice to Management

Holding on to incumbent non performing upper management staff poisons troop morale. Put result based metrics in place to help separate the wheat from the chaff.

    Pros

Flexible, Good benefits, Good package, Favorable work culture

    Cons

Hierarchy is too much. MTS, MTS3, Sr.MTS, Staff 1, Staff2... So no freedom of thoughts for MTS

    Advice to Management

Product release , once a year too much negligence amidst employees. All needfaster cycles and motivation

  2. Once a meritocracy, now an oligarchy

    Pros

great technology smart people on many teams ability for lateral movement strong growth

    Cons

The culture changed in 2009 and became one based upon fear. The only way to succeed now is to kiss up to the upper management. The entire Support organization in Palo Alto was canned so support could be run from other (cheaper) locations.

    Advice to Management

Find a way back to the days when your value was based upon merit rather than sycophancy.
