I have been working at VMware full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

VMware offers a competitive salary and decent benefits.

Cons

The company is going through growing pains right now, with a lot of restructuring and confused middle management. Top that off with lack of product direction and poor morale, the future is looking bleak.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do a spring cleaning in the middle-manager layer and promote from within in order to keep the positive company values alive.

I have been working at VMware full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Beautiful campus, at least the old part, Good benefits, Job security.

    Cons

Politics, chaotic (given company size). vmware is an amalgamate of acquisitions with lots of way to integrate them in. Company is too inert to effectively learn from past mistakes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Holding on to incumbent non performing upper management staff poisons troop morale. Put result based metrics in place to help separate the wheat from the chaff.
