I have been working at VMware

    Pros

You have the ability to work autonomously. If you have a good idea about something, you can pitch it and if it's a good ROI, you can get funding to make it work.

    Cons

As the company grows, there are a lot more unnecessary processes. We need to continue to work more efficiently without the politics.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There willl be heavy attrition this summer due to people being fully vested. The limited RSUs offered are not competitive enough for high performers to stay. Something should be done quickly.

Not worth the departmental politics although the pay check was good

    I worked at VMware

    Pros

VMware has some good products and had a lot of potential to be a great company.
The base pay and benefits are decent.
    Lovely campus and physical surroundings.

    Cons

The worst middle management that I have ever seen. Tech Pubs in particular is rife with bureaucratic politics, favoritism and unethical managers asking employees to help them spy on other employees

Departmental politics hurt VMware because they foster a culture where those who invest long hours in office politics are rewarded rather than the innovaters, team players and hard workers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop protecting terrible middle managers/directors.
Allow 360 reviews, every employee should have the opportunity of reviewing their manager as well as their director. Enforce this policy right across the entire company without any exceptions.
