Pros

the pay and benefit package is okay, if you are in the sales force. expense account, very fair car allowance. managers are usually willing to accompany you on sales calls.

Cons

management is a joke. they do not take their job or their employees seriously. they promote from outside the company, leaving upper management lost when it comes to training and mentoring new employees. managers are hard to reach and don't return phone calls. management makes a lot of promises that they do not follow up on, to both customers and employees.

the company is currently doing layoffs and on a hiring freeze. don't even bother applying until 2010.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

listen to what your employees are saying, and follow up on what you promise to employees AND customers.

    Pros

Sales reps and internal teams are truly great here. Alot of talent in the various divisions. Ability to take ownership and develop your career

    Cons

VWR needs to focus more on compensating its emloyees. Many sales reps can now go to manufacturer side and make much more money. They should pay the reps more to keep their talent. VWR is paying more in other ways like losing relationships at accounts and training new reps. Little communication from senior management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

more communication is needed about our strategy. Value the worker bee's and pay the reps who perform....no more capping comp plans.

    I worked at VWR International

    Pros

The best thing about working for VWR is that you have the opportunity to work and go to school. The company will pay for you to go to school and the management are very flexable with helping you with school

    Cons

There are a lot of downsides to working wtih VWR International.
    1. The management at all levels are not as competient as other employers that I have worked for. Their lack of training as leaders and their lack of listening and understanding makes the working environment very unpleasant
    2. The company does not listen to their employees. The company is so one sided that it will only listen to the customer and not the employee, no matter the situation.
    3. Upper management is unexcusably incompetent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train your managment, listen to your employees, and become better competitors in your own market.
