Neutral Outlook

I worked at Vail Resorts full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Awesome perks of getting to ride every day and mot of the work consists of driving machinery or riding quads. Cool ski area culture and good people to work for at least the park managers.

Cons

Pretty bad pay but is to be expected from a ski area. Also since Vail bought them out there is red tape in doing every thing and it seem to have made every one more stressed out.

Advice to Management

Build bigger jumps and don't show them to upper mgt.

I have been working at Vail Resorts full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Well managed and fiscally conservative. Leader in the industry. Great people. No jerks. Lots of innovation. Great resort operators. Katz is smart and a great leader. Very good work-life balance. Excellent corporate values, very responsible in the communities they operate in.

    Cons

Middle management has little autonomy, little ownership and little decision making power. The Executive Committee micromanages all decisions. Compensation is middle to low on the spectrum. Seems to have lots of turnover; likely due to lower pay, higher expectations and no ability to own. Benefit packages are standard for the travel industry, but minimal compared to other industries.

    Advice to Management

Empower the directors to run their own business, own their decisions.
