Former Employee – worked at Vail Resorts full-time for more than a year

Pros – best. skiing. ever. 4 weeks vacation and the benefits (at the time but now curtailed) were pretty awesome. best run ski management company in the country (of course, the bar is pretty low in the ski industry).

Cons – way underpaid and the culture became bland when senior management moved the company from Avon to Broomfield. that management attitude might have boosted the stock, but for employees it is so unbelievably demoralizing. very little opportunity growth.

Advice to Senior Management – your employees are there because they enjoy the life but they would also need a career. make an extra effort to retain the quality ones. you can't retain them if you have the "it's the skiing so we're going to take advantage of you and your passions" attitude.
