I have been working at Vanderbilt University full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

When you find the right department, Vanderbilt is the best place to work in town. I'm in a department which allows me to have some flexibility in my hours, the benefits are great, there are things to do after work nearby.

    Cons

Sometimes it is hard to find the right department when you are trying to get your foot in the door here. It's always hard trying to get your foot in the door here, period.

I have been working at Vanderbilt University full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The benefits are pretty good overall. There are some great people doing great things there and it is exciting to be on the cutting edge of science and healthcare. Nashville is a great place to live and Vanderbilt's campus is beautiful.

    Cons

With any large company everything takes a long time to happen. Most of the decisions are made from the people who don't really understand what they are deciding on. Little control for the lower management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to listen to the employees to retain great people.
