Neutral Outlook
No opinion of CEO

I worked at Vanderbilt University full-time (More than a year)

Pros

The benefits are good and if you stay there are community perks as well. If you work there long enough, there are tuition benefits for your children.

Cons

red tape, bureaucracy...as in many places. A lot of hiring is done internally so it is often very hard to get hired unless you know someone.

Advice to Management

No need to have a meeting about having a meeting!

I have been working at Vanderbilt University part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Can't beat the quality education (getting a Ph.D) while getting to avoid having to take out large student loans to live off of. Tuition paid, monthly stipend, great healthcare.

    Cons

The stipend is great but can be hard to live off of depending on the circumstances. Overall, I can't complain though. I am thankful.

  2. great school

I have been working at Vanderbilt University full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Beautiful campus, great reputation for academics, world-class medical center right there, close to downtown.

    Cons

Cost of living isn't cheap, but certainly not as bad as, say, NYC.

    Advice to Management

Would be nice if graduate student salaries were more regulated (sometimes similar graduate students in the same year get paid vastly different salaries), but since this is often due to the nature of NIH/NSF/?? funding, I doubt that would be an easy task.
