Pros

Pleasant work environment with very friendly, intelligent, and cohesive employees. Good benefits and nice area as well.

Cons

Low pay compared to industry standard and somewhat slow advancement process, military structured pay grade, micromanaged phone positions with very little flexibility.

    Pros

-401k match is ok/ but 4% match and 10% match of your pay a quarter isn't much when your pay is squat.
-Starting point for those that come in unlicensed

    Cons

-This is not a "real" investment company/ investment job. It is a phone job. You're a live body making sure their are not too many people waiting. The phrase "Wal-Mart of investing" is thrown around a lot concerning Vanguard, and it's true. They will pay you peanuts compared to the competition, but when trying to leave the competition either hires you out of pity because they started their too or you get a "Vanguard, that's nice" since the name holds no weight with the "big boys"
-Every job is the same with a different title. It doesn't matter if your a client relationship associate, dual hat, or in a specialized division.. you're there to get the client off the line as fast as possible.
-Shortened lunches are now the norm. No one wants your "free" lunches when you supply them from the Sodexo cafeteria.
-Employees are treated as cattle, unless you're ethnicity is not-white or you're a girl. If you're both you'll be a shining star.

    Advice to Management

Increase your pay... If every review out there talks about your pay then don't you think your pay needs to be increased? Also don't publish reports company wide that have "planned attrition numbers" for your division in them.

    Pros

Most people are nice, lots of vacation days, flexible with hours, lots of "fun" things to participate in (United Way, Diversity, etc.)

    Cons

Low salaries (60-70 for people in supervisor roles with MBA's and 10+ years experience), limited opportunites to go up any higher than supervisor, reviews are a joke (typically a percentage point or two for pay increases unless you are one of a handful), most people just happy to do the same job for years on end and just coast by, boring jobs, make mountains out of molehills, basically find one negative thing that you did and that becomes a huge deal on your review

    Advice to Management

Other than salaries (which they don't even include on surveys anymore), find more career paths where you actually move up vs. just taking laterals for 10 years
