Pros

The hospital has some great people that work there. Location is prime because of the lack of industry in the area and the work hours can be decent depending on which department you work for but many positions are unionized so you do get paid OT.

Cons

The staff easily get written warnings often for minor infractions which I'm uncertain if it's hospital policy or management but the practice seems consistent in all departments. Pay is very low except for where salaries are negotiated by unions such as for nurses. Medical benefits are below average which is very surprising for a medical facility. Turn over is very high!

Advice to Management

Sort out your leadership issues from the Health Quest merger and show more appreciation for those hard working employees that actually enjoy working for the hospital. Get a little more competitive with salaries.

    Pros

Close to home, a lot of very knowledgeable people (Doctors, nurses, techs and directors)

    Cons

Management needs to be more supportive, and add to the supervisory staff. Not enough help.

    Advice to Management

Focus on what really matters. If you want to be number 1, stop making so many changes.

    Pros

    - People are friendly, eventually they become friends after years of working there.

    Cons

    - Top heavy managment
    - Don't wanna give people raises
    - uses its security personell as valets, butlers, garbage men, pest control and house keeping.
    - Don't really want real security, but the illusion that there is one.
    - Even though it can be dangerous at times at night, they don't really hire security experince personell.

    Advice to Management

-Start getting rid of mid level and upper managment and assistant managers.
-Get serious about hiring real security with law enforcment, military backgorounds.
-Get ready for when something really happens in the ER at night and your personell you hire for security can't deal with the danger. Poughkeepsie can be a dangerous city especially in late summer nights, with ODs, Alchol posining, drug seekers and mentally insane people with no where to go.
