Vavrinek, Trine, Day & Co., LLP – “Decent firm, but no leadership.”
1 of 1 people found this helpfulPros
Decent benefits for YOU, but not your family. About 4 weeks vacation per year. If you want to torture yourself by dealing with non-profit and governmental employees, this place is #1.
Cons
Kiss your family goodbye for 3-4 months out of the year. 95% of the partners are COMPLETELY out of touch with the amount of time necessary to complete an audit and turn in a report. Partners also do not familiarize themselves with new standards, so you have almost zero consistency and leadership. The way to make partner and get more money is to schmooze with the partners. Actual competence and dedication means nothing to them. You will find out that someone in your same position will make $15,000 per year more than you, even though they can't audit anything other than copying last years work. If you work with governmental clients, you are going to deal with some VERY unintelligent individuals who make a LOT more money than you which is very depressing.
Advice to Senior Management
Try actually performing audit steps to keep current with the standards. The days of the 10 page audit report are LONG gone!
