Pros

Great sales training. Valuable experience. You get out what you put in. Impressive management. Good sales incentive. Flexible hours. Worked with fun people.

Cons

Long hours. Hard work to make real money. It is hard to get started if you don't have a supportive network of contacts. Dealing with rejection on the phone and in person is tough. Takes real perseverance.

    Pros

No other job in college gives you the opportunity to earn that kind of income and create that good of a resume.

    Cons

It's 100% commission, so if you have an off week, you're screwed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Leadership structure is great because they only promote from within, so your managers know your position better than you do.

    Pros

The earning potential is high. It's a great opportunity for college students, even if they have no sales experience. The company offers a nice base pay, so the representative does not have to worry about making a sale; just representing the product. However, if they do make a sale, the representative gets paid more than the base pay, which is why it's lucrative. The Cutco product is great. It's a great resume builder. The training and experience provides valuable sales, communication, and marketing skills. They offer the opportunity to run a branch office to individuals who show good work ethic, regardless of the time period they have been working, or age. Scholarships are provided by the company to those who work hard. All supplies are now provided to the representatives at no charge.

    Cons

One must be self-motivated, have good time management skills, and not get easily discouraged by an occasional difficult customer. Managers do not get a base salary, their income is based on the production of their individual offices.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Less management meetings with the same speeches. Provide more management training in the field, versus prep meetings. Rework loaner kit program - it's a pain.
