I have been working at Velti

Pros

Fast growing company in exciting space
Customers acknowledge Velti as the best in the business--respect and trust
Lots of smart people who seem to genuinely like each other and try very hard
Despite some of the surprisingly negative comments on glassdoor, our office at least is pretty free of politics
Good opportunities for advancement
Very low turnover rate from acquisitions. Two in past year and it seems almost everybody has stayed
Unlike other small mobile companies, this one seems on track to outgrow any short term issues and become a big player

Cons

Typical pressures of company on fast growth trajectory: never enough time, people, etc.
Management systems are still being developed. People who struggle with unbounded problems or need frequent reassurance have a real problem here and should probably apply at HP or Microsoft instead
Weak HR department means employees feel they don't have a voice with senior management and execs have poor visibility into what's happening in the trenches

Advice to ManagementAdvice

You will always have critics and some people are never happy. Probably 85% of the company's employees are excited and engaged. Don't get hung up on the few who are pissed off. Do what you know is right for the good of the comapny while treating people fairly and everything will be fine.

    I have been working at Velti

    Pros

    Location, location, location! Right in downtown San Francisco. Great transportation, great bars and restaurants.

    Cons

    - No planning. There is no annual business plan, which makes it impossible to come up with a departmental plan, yet you are expected to.
    - Worst senior management ever: no communication, no transparency, no fairness.
    - Sales expected to sell product that doesn't exist, Delivery expected to implement product that doesn't exist. Product implementation of what does exist is sloppy.
    - Very bad cross-cultural relationship with HQ in Greece.
    - Performance reviews late, no annual pay increases, stock options not delivered, bills paid late.
    - Seemingly random layoffs of large swathes across the company--two in the last year.
    - Very unhappy employees make for a toxic atmosphere. Even if you are doing work that somewhat satisfies you, it is impossible to be happy at Velti.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Velti needs professional CEO and C-level suite, preferably seasoned people from Silicon Valley. This is a company that has potential to move forward, but not at the state it is in.

    I have been working at Velti

    Pros

    - Part of the fastest growing industry in technology and marketing
    - Wide range of highly visible clients
    - Has the potential to be a trendsetter in mobile marketing

    Cons

    - Poor management structure in production of deliverable products
    - No Art Director at a company involved with a rich and highly visual medium
    - Unwilling to push technology to where brands can maintain their already developed identities
    - Runs the risk of competing with boutique agencies with similar capabilities and a higher regard for quality
    - Company has been repositioned as strictly a technology solutions provider. This is very short sighted
    - Account Managers unskilled at communicating client needs to Delivery Teams
    - Employees often end up "victims of Velti's success" instead of acknowledged for their work

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Better communication would certainly be a start to improving the working conditions at Velti.

    There should be no "victims of Velti's success" and to passively accept that there are, is unethical and exposes a failure in Management. It may be time to restructure. Again.
