I have been working at VeriFone full-time for more than a year

Pros

Fast paced.
Very busy.
No idle time.
Willing to spend money on new technology.

Cons

Employees are not valued, it's all about hitting the numbers here.
Directors will make you scared to have an opinion that differs from his own.
High turnover.
Quality of life is low.
Politics within the department are unbelievably sneaky at times.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find directors more experienced. Change company culture.

    I have been working at VeriFone full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

    The company is an industry leader. Because of that, you will have plenty of opportunity to work at the cutting edge of the payments industry. It also affords a bredth of opprotunities to work on differing aspects of hardware and software. The company is very spread out among many offices, allowing for work-from-home flexibility.

    Cons

    Stockholders come first, followed by customers, followed by executives, followed by middle management. Worker bees at the botton are line items. The company is very top-heavy. The ratio of managers to individual contributors is the highest I've ever seen. Most processes and proceedures are home-grown, making day-to-day business more complex than it needs to be. Best practices are rare.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Provide adequite staffing for projects so that things can be done right the first time. Consolidate under fewer roofs - things will get much more efficient.
