Verizon Employee Review
Verizon – “Long hours, constant layoffs, offshoring, work visa contractors, whining employees, idiot mgmt screaming at each other!”
4 of 4 people found this helpfulPros
Benefits, above avg pay, but not for most contractors
Cons
Dismal treatment of contractors, continuous offshoring and layoffs that cause low morale, extreme overtime, total chaos due to inadequate management. As a contractor & former employee of Verizon Business (the former MCI / WorldCom), I see the work environment keeps deteriorating. It used to be a great place to work when it was MCI! WorldCom ruined it. The merger with Verizon has improved things somewhat, though.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop offshoring & hiring work visa contractors since the majority of customers are in the US! You are lying when you say there aren't qualified people in the US!! I have 3 degrees and 21 yrs in telecom, and I can't find a job! Take a cut in pay, too, since you make WAY too much compared to the thousands below you. Shame on you for causing so much chaos and taking SO long to merge these companies because of your inability to make sound decisions. When the baby boomers are gone (you will have killed them from stress!), and you are managing employees in India, Argentina, Mexico, etc. whom you can't understand, you'll have no one to blame but yourselves. Of course, you'll have no customers because you and the other US companies laid them all off!
