Former Employee - Senior Account Executive in Andover, MA
Former Employee - Senior Account Executive in Andover, MA

I worked at Verizon full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Professional environment
Verizon Business Product Portfolio is massive
Solutions focus to high end enterprise customers
Sales Engineers are real professionals
Solution consultants as over-lay are a valuable sales support
Sales Management Team is solid, real professional
Good base pay, excellent commission plan
Fantastic Benefits ( even on the non-Union Side of the company)
401k is the best !

Cons

Lousy Culture--long term employees are miserable
Unrealistic Quotas
Poor implementation of solutions
Installation in-region by Union = Nightmare! could be done in half the time, but labor agreement is a hinderance
Service management is a mess--due to outsourcing to Phillipines.
Billing is a mess--resoltion also outsourced to Phillipines
No commitment by management to fix customer problems--just want new revenue
Poor Integration of Teremark
New Sr. leadership (as of 2012) is too transactional focused. Former model was solution focused.
Poor compensation for Professional Services ( Terremark services)
On going layoffs are a standard way of running the business. Who gets chosen is as much a mystery as who doesn't.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a Clue ! The key differentiator for VzB Enterprise is Terremark's Professional Services; consulting/security & Cloud but if commission plan remains lousy for these services, AE's will not sell it.

I worked at Verizon as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

I got a real workout on HP ALM Quality Center and Telecom Product order flow when I was contracted by Infinite Computer Solutions to Verizon Business in Colorado Sprngs, CO. This included entering Requirements, Test Cases and Defects and performing of the proper linking of items in QC. There was lots of training on Telecom Product ordering process flow and HP ALM QC.

    Cons

The hourly rate for the contract was on the low side and there was no free coffee.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offering free coffee to your employees might boost morale and productivity slightly.
