I have been working at Verizon full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Until Obamacare, they had great benefits but they're probably still better than most. Verizon still seems to be one of the few companies willing to employ you for life (as long as you are a productive employee).

    Cons

When I started at Verizon, they didn't care about "experience". They only cared about Verizon experience which I think was the height of arrogance but because of that there are many good people with great work experience stuck in underwhelming positions and I think that is a genuine waste of talent. I don't know if that arrogance has rescinded but I don't hear it any more but the fact that they felt that way was a huge strike against them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have a talented workforce. Have HR comb through the records and what you will find will probably surprise you. These talented people feel as if their careers have ended and all they/we have at Verizon is a job. Utilize the talent that you already have and try to outsource less.
