Pros

Brand recognition
Global strength and strong R&D

3 year wait for full vesting.
Wireless and enterprise markets still operate in separate buckets.
Too much focus on day to day results vs long term strategy and planning.
Management not in line with company objectives.

I have been working at Verizon

    Pros

    - Shift work
    - Good pay, if you negotiated it

    Cons

    - You have to account for your 100% of your time MINUTE BY MINUTE
    - Shift work gets old fast. Hard/impossible to move to another shift
    - Mgmt really has no clue ... at all.
    - Rarely get a chance to work on something new
    - Indian Ops center coming online, so not sure how long this office will be around

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Think with your head.

    I worked at Verizon

    Pros

    Good money
A lot of very smart, dedicated people to work with
Some interesting challenges, given the new technologies such as FiOS and FiOS TV.

    Cons

Hang on to your seat, because there will be a layoff every 6 months.
The environment is becoming progressively more cut-throat and less collaborative. See above.
Current circumstances inhibit movement to new assignments.
It is likely you will get a new boss every year or two, which may allow little time to establish your value in their mind before the next rating peiod.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Read Elie Weisel's "Night" as an allegory of how human behavior and attitudes change when (job) survival is the issue.
