I have been working at Verizon full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Lots of overtime if your in the right department

    Cons

They want to get rid of there copper cable plant which will mean less field techs needed because of the reliability of fiber-optic service. Big mistake I think due to the battery back-up system for phone service; meaning that if residential power is loss your house phone (non-wireless phone the old type that you plug into a phone jack) will only work for 4 hrs

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

be better people managers. I only had one good boss out of 4 bosses.

I have been working at Verizon full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Pay is is roughly $33.00 an hour at cap. You are allowed up to $20,000 dollars in commission based pay. $700.00 dollars of profit sharing, a extra paycheck pay out for not using any personal time the following year. The company rewards hard workers, will try to help the average be successful and plentiful workers and the weakest links will be given the necessary growth attention. The company recognized its top workers and drivers.

    Cons

The union does not protect the best possible employees. Seniority does not mean protecting hard workers and greatly skilled individuals. People get too conformable with their seniority also getting lazy as they hit their 6th month mark. The best don't always get the best.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find a way to work out better methods with the union to establish job security rather than seniority. A lot of good potential and growth in the company is lost from seniority. If people have seniority, let it be not only because of the years, but the quality of the worker too. Quantity in years is pointless without quality.
