I have been working at Verizon full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good technology, good benefits, growing, Tuition reimbursement, ok pay not really that good

    Cons

Managers are bitter because 70/30 pay structure, managers get "RIFed" when they are not liked and forced into Contingent workers as contractors. Union representatives are treated better than managers. You always have to watch your back because everyone is trying to get you fired for something petty. 15+ Year s 1st level manager's have no leadership skills and are brainless just like their second levels. Hiring from outside is not going to solve their problems because training is terrible for new managers and all of their colleagues do not want new managers from outside to do well. Too many emails too many conference calls. Company should centralize and Have Directors become Regional Vice Presidents and manage no more than 500 employees at a time. Get rid of Call center Managers because all they do is read and forward emails to their unproductive team leaders. CCM's all they do is listen to a few recordings and ask you to coach people. In order to fix this company, most Managers need to be replaced, like 89%. Low morale, UNion employees do what the hell they want, because they never get fired unless they steal something. ZERO leadership. Dont expect to get promoted, it doesnt happen

    Advice to Management

Decentralize the company, put in place a very good on-boarding system for new managers. Please stop making former laid off/terminated managers as new contractor training managers. They are terrible leaders, terrible teachers and they start off training talking about how bitter they are for being RIFed out. Have your Director stop having 100 conference calls a week, Have them get up their lazy behinds and start doing face to face visits and start solving problems and culture issues. It is not a fun work environment
