Pros

Benefits Package, Diversity and Personal Growth would be the main pros of working there. You can also get a lot of experience of how a customer centric company works.

Cons

Environment can get a little stressful. Better salaries available at other companies. IT was not as friendly as I could have thought.

Advice to Management

Be a little more flexible with employees. Better salary options wouldn't hurt either. Offer more benefit programs. Have a more robust mentor program.

    Pros

Verizon gives a great salary and benefits package is top notch. The company is very stable and would be around for decades as a top organization in the country.

    Cons

There is no fexibility in work days or working off site in the finance organization. In process streamlining and management training, we are trailing behind companies like GE and IBM and need to instill a culture of innovation like Google. We need to break out of the old telco mentality.

    Advice to Management

Please bring back the long term incentive to keep the talent long term.

  2. Helpful (1)

It's all good if you get in good with the right people.

    Pros

The pay, yearly bonuses, benefits, and vacation time is good. The level of support from immediate supervisors. Depending on your prior experience and/or education - you can move around to different departments (but it normally is only a lateral move). You can make it a fun place to work.

    Cons

You have to really be-friend your supervisor in order to be considered for special projects or become a team lead. Working on special projects = time off of the phone. Sometimes it can be non-stop calls for customer service (and I mean back to back to back). In order to gain the most out of your career, you may have to move to different locations in different city, state. Don't expect to make your way up to senior management until you put in some years (meaning at least 10-15 years). Performance for Cust Service Reps is based on customer survey and not actually how you performed on the call.

    Advice to Management

Communicate with first line employees as much as possible on changes that are being made, new products, or new policies. Senior management needs to find a better way to communicate with first line employees too in order to make them feel appreciated.
