Pros

Great benefits from the start, great opportunities for advancement, continuing education benefits! Job opportunities are across the nation so if moving it would be easy to be relocated!

Cons

I would say that a con would be that it's not it's hard to not like the place. I've worked for different corporations and none of them are true to their word except Verizon Wireless (which is awesome)!

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't become complacent!

Customer service isn't a lot of fun, but at least they realize it.

    Pros

A good, comprehensive benefits package including full medical and dental
A solid 401(k) that includes company matching up to 6%
Lots of money available for tuition, and a very flexible idea of what constitutes training which could help the company down the line
A structured system which lets you know exactly what it is that's expected of you

    Cons

In the last year, the higher-ups went hog-wild with the NPS thing, actually forcing a high percentage (I think 60% all told) of your evaluation being based on what the customer thinks of how you did. That means: if you follow company policy and don't give a handout that would cost the company money without a lot of benefit, expect that to come back to haunt you. That being said, the company does change policies like this after a while, so even though this is the 2nd year of this program, it could go away once NPS falls out of favor with corporate America.

For all the training and tuition assistance offered, the company outsources a *lot* of their non-CS-related jobs (and a lot of the CS-related ones too for that matter). If you want to find a place that will essentially pay you $8k a year to find a better job with another company, VZW is the place for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Meh. Middle management is basically in the same place as the guys at the bottom, and once you get high up enough that people can actually make solid decisions, they're so removed from the actual workings of the job that there's just not much to say. That's just the way large companies work.

    Pros

Good, laid back environment. Management pretty well trained. A lot of different opportunities to grow with the company. I had just graduated from college and did not have a job yet. This was the perfect job to get some corporate level experience, working in the office environment for a major company.

    Cons

Promotions go more off seniority than strictly performance. The overall structure of growth with the company should be based off how hard the workers work and strive to perform.

Another thing I didn't like is that the pay was I bit too low. I had a finance degree and was still getting paid less than 30000.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More incentive programs would be nice
