I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Excellent pay, most wouldn't believe how much you can make.
6% 401k match with 3% yearly bonus potential
Excellent Benefits - Blue Cross Blue Shield etc. Same benefits as a government worker
Prepaid or reimbursed tuition or both!
Tons of employee discounts
Paid travel
Verizon requires a college degree so your not normally working with morons

Cons

The customers - cell customers are less educated about what they are paying for than most other types of customers. Also helping the elderly with their Android phones and iphones is tedious and frustrating.
Extremely competitive - everyone you work with knows your pay and competes to make more
Unrealistic sales goals ($80 of accessories sold with each phone, at least a dozen other closely watched metrics
Upper management is very out of touch with what actually goes on in the stores. They have unrealistic goals and wonder why they aren't met. No one tells them the truth because you are only allowed to be positive. Upper management has head in the sand syndrome
You will work most holidays

Advice to ManagementAdvice

You're killing your best reps with excessive metrics, overly aggressive sales techniques and quotas, and way too much reporting. Also, when the reps make so much more than assistant managers the ,management interacts with the reps in a weird dynamic. You guys should push for higher pay. I personally refuse to get promoted because its a pay cut.

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time

    Pros

Security, Company Support, Benefits, Vacation and Family time, Opportunity, constant change, always at the forefront of its industry

    Cons

retail hours, multiple weekends, high quotas make it hard to make extra commission, need to do your research about market share before taking a mgmt position to establish the extra $$$ that you can get, held accountable for metrics that you don't have a lot of control over

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

do research about location, market share, be prepared to be held accountable but w/ little control, but ultra rewarding if successful

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time

    Pros

The best part of working for Verizon Wireless is the benefits. Dental, health insurance are some of the best available. The company also has a 6% match in the 401 K plan in addition to profit sharing.

    Cons

Verizon is a pay for performance company, there are times when it is difficult to balance the needs of the company and the customer.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To increase the use of my Verizon for orders, it may be worth considering basing part of the management compensation by the number of either new or upgrade accounts in a given area times the percentage of my Verizon utilization in the Retail Store.
