I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Potential for ok pay (use to be much better just a few years ago), and good benefits. That's really it, as often employees get the short end of the stick.

    Cons

The pay was really good a few years ago, however they decided to enforce a "windfall" which means you can not make over $4500 in commission, and how much money you make depends on what they set the quota at. You could sell 50 new lines one month, and make a $4000 commission check, and do the same the next month, and make a $1000 commission check. Unfortunately they tend to put the quotas at a really high level to keep you from getting paid well now. On top of this, you can still sell a lot and be fired for failing scorecard which is based on whatever they decide that month, and works usually by being based on the 'percentage of this that you sold to the total sales'. So if they are trying to push a really crappy product down customers throats, you could be let go for not wanting to sell it, regardless of how much money you made the company that month. Employees often get the short end of the stick for their own cell phone support with the worst possible customer service, and I've see customers get screwed over on their bill simply because no one wants to use their credits to help the customer out because 'it wasn't their department or store'.

No one can seem to take responsibility and stand up for what's right, and I've seen employees fired for discounting too much, or not wanting to sell a crappy product to their customers, while others who never give discounts to their customers, use shady sales techniques, come into work hungover, and don't always check ID still work for the company.

Overall this company left a very bad taste in my mouth that would even make car sales or the DMV look like a more pleasant experience. Shady sales tactics are used, with no more thought other than "how can we squeeze these people for every penny they got", including the very employees that work for them.

This also showed in the fairly high rate I saw friends of the company go on stress leave, leave the company by will, or go try to sap every minute they can from some disability pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make it about the customer, and not what you can sell to the customer. Put integrity and respect as more important over paychecks.
