I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

Great benefits, good compensation, ability to move easily throughout the country, tuition PRE-payment, 401k matching that is almost unheard of, profit sharing, for a big company there are very agile to respond.

Cons

Limited jobs that are not in retail, and the retail hours that go along with that

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Excellent Benefits, take advantage of the education reimbursement program, go to school and spend your time there bettering yourself so that when the time comes for a change, you are ready. And definitely participate in the 401k to the maximum extent you are able to, you will be glad you did later.

    Cons

You are paid very well but in exchange your performance better be exemplary. Sounds easy, right? Except for that approx every 6 months or less they are going to change their ideas on what they want and how they want it, and you will have entirely new metrics to meet on a monthly basis to maintain your employment relationship. Don't ever get written up for anything there, if you can avoid it. They love to keep you on some kind of warning for something there because the way their discipline is structured they know once they have you on a warning of any kind, for any little thing you are on a banana peel sliding out the door, so that makes you easier to mold and control.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

What can I say? You managed a thousand people, and most of yourselves, right out of a job. Your strength is your network because it certainly isn't in most of the business decisions made. When employees offer advice or suggestions on some of these decisions you need to stop thinking people are just being negative, in retrospect, a lot of the things I suggested ended up being completely accurate. It reminds me of the emperor has no clothes parable. No matter how blatantly stupid something is, you are only interested in the people that will oooh and ahhh, and anyone who tells you the truth is just negative. Well there are people who just aren't built to lie like that, they are worth listening to, they love their jobs too. Like when you thought you were going to compete with itunes. How's that working for ya?

    No opinion of CEO
