Good earnings potential but be prepared to sacrifice a lot of time away from home

Pros

Fun and exciting technology to sell to customers. Commissioned structure allows for extra earnings potential.

Cons

long, unpredictable hours. Sales reps required to perform technical support functions, limiting numbers of sales opportunities per day. Many sub-par managers that do not think for themselves and only relay messages of upper-mgmt.

Advice to Management

upper management needs to have more front-line experience to really know what is going on in the stores.

    Pros

It's great if you're fresh out of college, and need a job right away to hold you over until you sort things out. Do not expect to go from a retail store to a corporate office; it's almost unheard of, and takes forever.

    Cons

Verizon is a very difficult company to advance in. You have to know the right people, and they have to be willing to push you along through the organization

    Advice to Management

Lose the corporate persona, and be more genuine and supportive. If a person isn't fit for a sales role then try to find a role in the company that's better suited for him/her.

  2. Regional management that will bend over backwards for you, national management that will bend you over.

    Pros

The regional management is very strong, filled with dedicated professionals that genuinely want the best for their employees.

    Cons

The policies as decided by national management are sometimes less than employee-friendly, and are often made without consultation with employees on the ground.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to the middle.
