Pros

Great discounts and gratis', great co-workers, So many associates are hired during holiday that the ones who don't fit in with everyone seem to get weeded out, also a lot of training and store meetings, so associates are well prepared on the floor.

Cons

No room to advance, was given a slight promotion, small raise, but even though I showed interest, and I was promised interviews, nothing seemed to happen. That is the main reason I left the company. Even after graduating college and getting a promotion, it was still part time. But after "call in" shifts I was there for at least 40 hours a week, yet received no benefits. "Call ins" are the worst. Management adds two hour "call in" to beginning or end of your shift, so you don't know until the day of if you have to work those extra hours. Sometimes you're just scheduled just a call in shift, so you can't plan your day until you call 2 hours before the shift would begin. Also, the customer gets absolutely anything they want, which is good for business, but gets confusing for associates when relaying information to customers. Policies seem to flip flop depending on the situation and manager on duty. Of all retail places I've worked, unfortunately, VS has some of the rudest customers.

Advice to Management

Give your associates opportunity for growth, be supportive if one of your long time employees would like to participate in VS management courses or be considered for a higher position

    Pros

Fun work environment, chance to make friends, discount and free merchandise

    Cons

Low pay and dealing with rude customers

    Advice to Management

Give your associates a chance to be management. I would have rated higher but the newest DM only hired outside of the store which was unfair to the experience staff. Respect your associates and they will no doubt respect you.
