Pros

Great State "like" benefits. All federal holidays off. The job is very relaxed. Most management is decent to get along with.

Cons

Business attire shouldn't be required for everyone/every occasion. Those who are meeting with the governor or delegates, etc. should as thats what they get paid the big bucks for, but those in the mail room and with common administrative functions shouldn't. It's the new millenium - get with the business casual / casual Friday thing, please!

Some of the Directors are such big kiss assers that they are therefore only concerned with themselves. Word of advice, especially in such a political, who you know kinda workplace - Don't talk down to the person who you perceive to be the "little person" because you never know who you are actually talking to.

Opportunities to advance here are minimal. Someone either has to die or retire (both are rare and thank goodness) for a position to come open.
