Former Employee - Enterprise Risk Management Intern in San Francisco, CA

I worked at Visa Inc. as an intern for less than a year

Pros

-Co-workers great at providing the necessary background information on the industry
-Very cordial, respectful, and helpful work environment, from senior management all the way to analysts
- Meaningful projects from day one that were often international in scope

Cons

-High learning curve at the beginning of the internship process, as the payments industry is more complex than it looks
-HR was not very clear about full time opportunities after the internship process and should have a more formal internship to analyst process

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you're doing - the payments systems industry is a growth industry and will continue to be one for the foreseeable future

I have been working at Visa Inc. full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Pay is above market, though not far above market
Mature people, fairly smart and knowledgeable, reasonable level of professionalism
    Reasonable work-life balance
Good brand to have on your resume if you are interested in payments

    Cons

Huge amount of red tape. Culture of using overweight process to squash new people an their enthusiasm.
99% of people here are stuck. It seems like even 30 year olds are just waiting for their retirement. So weird!
Absolutely no dynamism in most of company.
Extremely political, though most employees are mature and professional.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Cut down the red tape, try to create a more dynamic culture. If hungry people get fired quickly, that will be a long term problem for your company.

I have been working at Visa Inc. full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Good benefits and bonus plan.

    Cons

Filled with a lot of unproductive a** kissers waiting for retirement.

Promotions and hirings happen more often than not depending on who you know. The 'old boys' network still exists here.

Stay away, unless you want small chunks of your soul chipped away everyday.

Office environment is dull and lifeless.

    Doesn't Recommend
    No opinion of CEO
