Good to work if you are totally concentrated at technology. Too much Politics is pulling the company down

I have been working at Visa Inc.

Pros

- A lot to do and few people make gives you opportunity to grow
- Good monetary benefits. Leaves are good to look at, only if you can avail them...

Cons

- Higher management is compromised of very old people struggled through the years and do not believe in latest technology. They believe in punch cards and what the employees to be at their desk at 9 AM, but don't want to talk about exit time. No telecommute, no work from home, no vacations.
- Constant change in management is causing good talent to leave.
- Very harsh way to letting employees go. They even fire their employees when they are on vacation.
- No formal communication on reasons for any action taken by higher management.
- Higher management is just at cost cutting without any baseline.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should understand that the workers of the company are there because of the influence of their managers or the economy. Economy is never bad for good talented people.
Once the manger is not aware whats happening in the company, talented people leave...Why can't the higher management get this FACT? If management cannot adopt the latest technology and is not flexible to understand employees personal issues, they should not expect the employee to be available in non-office hours. Compromise should be both ways...but its not!

If you want a job that's made up of forecast reporting and deck writing, Visa is the place for you!

I have been working at Visa Inc.

    Pros

The benefits, pay and friendly people. Pre-IPO, it was a fantastic place to work.

    Cons

The post IPO management team has removed every bit of Visa's culture that was good and made it worth coming to work every day. They are phasing out the veterans who built the brand over the years for younger MBA's who will work 80 hours a week and be on call 24/7. If you want to have a conversation with manager to share an idea, be prepared to put a deck together. Visa only knows how to communicate through powerpoint slides. Also, be prepared to spend 50% of your job working on forecast reporting and fighting over who owns the P&L.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Return to being a more employee focused organization. Strive to be a top 50 best places to work company and you might retain some of the talent you currently have when the economy turns.
