I have been working at Visa Inc.

Pros

Depends on who you know. Does not reward fairly or transparently. Good place to be mediocre able to work with smart people

Cons

Could be fairer. Too many red tape and takes too long to make decisions. Management tend too be cliqued. Sad

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to build staff. Need to look at making compensation fairer. Used to be fairer and more rewarding. Too bad

I have been working at Visa Inc.

    Pros

Great brand. Arguably one of the best business models out there, in any industry. Both a technology and marketing driven company.

    Cons

Challenge navigating between the "old" and the "new" Visa. At times a very nimble company, but at times bureaucratic. Can be politcal at times as well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus more on retention of key employees, in particular given the market is heating up. Think hard about trying to develop and shape the culture more.

    I worked at Visa Inc.

    Pros

Although the employee benefits are less and less generous each year, the benefit package is still good in comparison to other companies. The Visa brand is globally recognized, so it feels good to be part of it. Change is constant in the environment and may impact your job content where you learn a new role, new skills, thereby enhancing your value and marketabililty. Good fit for aggressive personalities and those who are excited by constant change (re-orgs, priorities).

    Cons

Culture can be toxic due to persistent layoffs/re-orgs and staffers protecting their turf for job security or for upward mobility. The culture is definitely "who you know" which helps smooth pathways to getting decisions go your way. Processes are devised and not followed (even by the people who devised them . . . there's always an exception they claim). Badly behaved people (bullies) continue to enjoy longevity. They are seen as ones who get things done. It seems that teamwork and a sense of cooperation is exception rather than a rule. Difficult to trust others.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work culture is instilled from the top down. Perhaps my experience is unintended by upper senior management, but they should feel fortunate that I was able to "put up and shut up".
