I have been working at Visionworks

Pros

Vision insurance given to all employees within the first week of hire. Good beginner's experience in a sales environment. Fellow employees are respectful and easy to get along with. Receives commission based on sales.

Cons

Management lacks direction and decision making. Customers can be hard to deal with. Hiring process is slow.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire a management team with experience in optics and sales. Also look for leadership and education.

I have been working at Visionworks

    Pros

Most employees are grea and hours are ok

    Cons

doesn't matter how much experience you have, when it come right down to it you are a salesman.
You can sell the perfect pair of eyeglasses and get a commision of about 20 to 100.00 a week but if you don't sell that 6.99 cleaning kit you will get written up. And as easily as it is to make commission you lose it faster by lab errors and delays. Benifits are awful. The company is owned by BCBS and you still pay over 130.00 a month for health insurance. And forget vacation. There are only about 4 months out of the year that you can take vacation, everything else is blackedout. It's an all boys club too. Not to many women in upper management

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

get out of your office.Stop micro managing. District managers should come to storesand stop sending 10-20 faxes about how everyone sucks at their job. Do you sell eyeglasses or cleaning kits?

    Quick ECCA employment guide

    I worked at Visionworks

    Pros

    - If you are morally troubled to sell someone with money troubles eyeglasses that have well over a 1,000% retail markup, at least ECCA has among the lowest prices in the industry.
    - After 90 days of employment, employees receive one complementary pair of glasses with all the goods of your liking once per year.
    - Good workplace to earn income during the summer months before school starts.
    - They will be flexible with your schedule.

    Cons

    - Part time hours in the off season, which is about any time after the first month of a new school year, ranges between 0 to less than 20 hours per week. I averaged 15 hours.
    - Many more details, details, and details within details to remember than your typical retail workplace with similar pay rates.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I recommend increasing the pay rate to give ECCA employment more of an edge in the retail industry.
