I have been working at Visiting Nurse Service of New York full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

the money and meeting new people. you get paid every week you travel a lot

    Cons

you travel but its on your dime you do not get it back they will not compensate. The money is based on the hours you work the more you work the more you get paid. you get little to nothing and the supervisors are ridiculous. you have to call everyday for a case but its not permanent they come and go you waste more money traveling then you do for anything else. No room for advancement you could be in the same position forever.

    Advice to Management

listen to your aides pay us more money we slave away for it we deserve it

VNSNY has a wonderful mission and provides great care, however it is not well managed.

I have been working at Visiting Nurse Service of New York full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

VNSNY has an excellent mission to serve all who need it, and the dedicated clinical staff fulfills this mission every day and provides high quality care. Traditionally the organization has had good work life balance but in recent years that has been less true because everyone has been asked to do more with less. There are excellent vacation benefits and solid medical, dental, and other benefits.

    Cons

The biggest weaknesses at VNSNY are a lack of transparency in management, and a dysfunctional management culture that has many silos of all types (geography, program, payor) that inhibits decisivness. Projects drag on and change is slow and difficult. Compensation is weaker than it should be.
